Moors
Farmhouse dates from about 1685 and originally consisted of four simple
rooms, some of which may have housed livestock. After the Napoleonic
wars significant improvements had been made to the road to London
which enabled local farms to supply a burgeoning city with cheese,
thus increasing their herds and their incomes. Moors Farm illustrates
this era well with the cheese-room additions and the brick regency
facing on the south front. June's family settled here at the outbreak
of WW2 and have been farming it ever since. Much of the surrounding
area belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall and borders an ancient deer
park pre-dating the first Duke.
